Dr. Eric Ball graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1995 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology.  He graduated cum laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2001, becoming a Therapeutic Optometrist.  A therapeutic optometrist may treat eye diseases and injuries, prescribe medicine and perform other procedures.
Dr. Eric Ball received the Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy by the College of Optometrists in Vision Development in 2001.

Dr. Elaine Shih received her Bachelor of Art degree in Biology and Pyschology and graduated cum laude from Rice University in 1997.  She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2001, becoming a Therapeutic Optometrist.
In 2001, Dr. Shih received a Scholarship Award from Vision Service Plan for demonstrating excellence in the pursuit of primary care skills, as well as the award for outstanding clinical and academic performance in contact lenses from Ciba.

In 2001, the doctors opened Ball Family Vision Center in Lewisville, Texas.  In 2006, the practice was relocated to Flower Mound, Texas.
In 2005, Dr. Ball and Dr. Shih decided to move their growing family to Argyle TX. The strong sense of community and commitment to education and sports, along with the small town feel was very important to them.
In 2007, the doctors continued their education to become certified as Optometric Glaucoma Specialists.  An optometric glaucoma specialist is a therapeutic optometrist who is also licensed to treat glaucoma as authorized by the Texas Optometry Act and prescribe oral prescription drugs listed in the Optometry Act.
In 2018, they decided to move their practice to Argyle to be closer to their kids and serve the town in which they live. The doctors have been married since 2002 and now have three lovely children.
